Jerry Armstrong - Director of Development Services


Jerry began his career 21 years ago as a mainframe programmer at Owens Corning Fiberglas. He joined NCR in 1977 and was involved in the development of electronic point-of-sale systems for 9 years. While part of NCR's Retail Systems Group, he held many positions, including operating system architecture, software development, and the management of a group of software developers.

In 1986, Jerry transferred to NCR's Personal Computer Division, where he worked until December of 1995. That organization became part of AT&T in 1991. In the PC operation, he led a team that developed device drivers for MS-DOS, OS/2, Windows, and Novell Netware. He debugged and supported the MS-DOS operating system and developed applications to assist the other development efforts as well as the manufacturing and product support areas of the business.

Most recently, Jerry was a member of the corporation's information technology group responsible for Oracle support of engineering documentation systems and LAN and WAN development for those systems.

Jerry has been recognized as a leader in the SCSI software arena on a national level. He has presented in national forums and has been published in the NCR Journal, NCR's corporate journal of research and technology.

Jerry has a very wide knowledge base of computer programming and systems. At the same time, he has been able to maintain a great deal of depth in each of the areas in which he has become involved.
